Privacy Policy

At OfficeMax, our goal is to offer you a level of personalized service you won't find anywhere else. To make that goal a reality, we regularly gather and use anonymous information about those who visit our site. OfficeMax respects and protects the privacy of our customers and everyone who visits our site. This privacy statement is intended to let you know what information we typically gather - and how we intend to use it.

The Information We Gather

As a matter of practice, we collect the domain name, e-mail address, Uniform Resource Locator (URL), and Internet Protocol (IP) address of visitors to our web page, those who post messages to our bulletin board, those who communicate with us via e-mail, and those who make postings to our chat areas. In addition, OfficeMax collects aggregate information on what pages customers access or visit, as well as information volunteered through surveys or site registrations.

What We Do with It. And What We Don't

The information OfficeMax collects is used by us to improve the content of our web site, customize the content for individual visitors, notify visitors about web site updates, and contact customers for marketing purposes. Where appropriate, we may share aggregated statistical information with our business partners. These statistics include no personally identifying information.

OfficeMax partners with trusted third parties to provide site users with unique, OfficeMax-approved offers or services which may be of value to our users. In such instances, we may share a user's name and address with a trusted third party to enable them to notify the user of the unique offer or service. We will never provide credit card information and you will always be provided with the opportunity to unsubscribe from any such list.

External Links and Co-Branded Sites

Our site contains links to external Internet sites as well as co-branded sites, which may be operated by an external party and they may have privacy practices that differ from those here. A co-branded site is a web site, usually operated by a third party and displaying that third party's name along with the OfficeMax name and logo.

Such co-branded sites offer OfficeMax-approved goods or services to our users. When you click on links that take you to such external or co-branded sites, you will be subject to their privacy policies, and we encourage you to become familiar with that party's privacy policies as these may differ from those utilized on our site. Please note that this privacy statement applies solely to information collected by OfficeMax on our site and, while we strongly support the protection of privacy on the Internet, we cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of other web sites, uses of the information collected by other web sites, or the content of those other web sites.

Live Customer Service Option

To better aid customers during the ordering process, OfficeMax allows online customers to opt for live customer service via telephone. In order to analyze and improve our operations, related phone calls and chat sessions are recorded by OfficeMax.

A Word about "Cookies"

We use "cookies" (small pieces of information stored by your web browser on your computer's hard drive) to store visitor preferences, record session information (such as items added to a shopping cart), record user-specific information on what pages users access or visit, alert visitors to new areas that we think might be of value to them when they return to our site, record past activity at a site in order to provide better service when visitors return to our site, and personalize web page content on visitors' browser type or other information that the visitor sends.
